American Jews, also known as
Jewish Americans, are
Americans who are also
Jews. Population estimates vary; most surveys range from 5.2 million
[1] to 6.4 million,
[2] making the Jewish population of the United States either the largest or second-largest in the world after Israel. The American Jewish community is composed mostly of
Ashkenazi Jews,
[6] but there are also
Sephardic and
Mizrahi Jews, along with other
Jewish ethnic divisions, encompassing a wide range of spiritual beliefs, from the ultra-Orthodox
Haredi communities to Jews who are entirely secular.
