Serbia can be accepted in the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Organization of the Collective Security Treaty. This did not exclude the head of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security Viktor Ozerov.

"In the event that Serbia will remain increasingly isolated from European nations and the world community to recognize Kosovo, perhaps we will need to revise the statute and the CIS Collective Security Treaty Organization, and to consider the adoption of these organizations in Serbia" he said. In turn, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Yakovenko stressed that "the question of Serbia, our position remains the same, the recognition of Kosovo's independence is not in accordance with international law".

At the same time, permanent representative of Russia to NATO Dmitry Rogozin, in an interview with ITAR-TASS news agency said that the situation in Kosovo is increasingly beyond the control of the European and American politicians who cherishing the idea of the independence of the Serb enclave. "They believed that the people being humiliated, never dares to speak out against what it drags own country and deny citizenship of their homeland"  he said, referring to ethnic Serbs clash with the police and KFOR forces in Kosovska Mitrovica., "Of course Russia will not act as defence counsel or Serbs or Serbia itself  we firmly stand on the position of the protection of international law, especially the UN Security Council resolution number 1244, which is shaping the future of the region," he said.

According to Rogozin, "the situation in Kosovo is being discussed with the leadership of the alliance almost daily", but "so far we have not encountered such stresses as it is today, although we have warned our partners that the political escapades associated with the support of the declared independence of Pristina necessarily lead to an escalation violence. "I now need only one thing: those who has physical strength that is, KFOR, must come to their senses, stop, calm the situation down, calm down passions and understand that there is only one way out  to return to a political solution to the conflict based on UN Security Council resolution number 1244 " stressed postpred Russia to NATO.
